Do I need a fireplace or an insert?

Inserts are a fireplace (gas or wood) that utilizes your existing brick masonry or non-combustible existing fireplace into an efficient heating appliance for your home. The venting uses the existing chimney or pipe to run its venting thru and are sealed at the top to prevent cold air from seeping into the room when the appliance is off. No more drafty fireplace on cold days.

Fireplaces on the other hand are framed into either an existing wall or a new construction home and are zero clearance meaning wood framing is allowed all around. They are perfect for new homes and remodels. They are available in a huge variety of sizes shapes and heating output for use in almost any home. Most are remote control capable for greater ease of use.

Mike came out to fix our new fire pit. The poor guy worked on it for close to two hours and ultimately determined he couldn't fix it. He did however provide us with several solutions to the problem which he said he would be happy to perform but didn't want to proceed because it would likely void the warranty on the new fire pit. We contacted the company about their faulty design and they are going to send out new parts to hopefully resolve the problem and we will be asking Mike to come install them when they arrive! Additionally, Mike only charged us for his time instead of the previously agreed upon house call fee because he couldn't fix the problem which I thought was very considerate of him.

Tom was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable about swamp coolers. He had the swamp cooler up and running quickly after getting the part that we needed. We had to call on Tom a second time when we developed a leak from the swamp cooler. Tom was able to track the problem down in the attic and fix it. We will definitely use this company again.
